What's the BPM of That Song? Measure It in 60 Seconds with a Tap Tapper

Whether you're learning a song on guitar, practicing piano, or just curious about a track's tempo, you've probably wondered: "What's the BPM of this song?" BPM (Beats Per Minute) measures how many beats occur in one minute — the fundamental unit of musical tempo. NewJeans' Hype Boy runs at 118 BPM. BTS's Spring Day is a slower 76 BPM. Knowing a song's BPM lets you set your metronome correctly, practice at the right speed, or sync two tracks for a seamless DJ mix.

A tap tapper is the fastest way to measure BPM without any extra tools. You listen to a song and tap along to the beat — the app measures the interval between taps and calculates beats per minute. No app installation, no audio analysis, just your ears and a tap.

How the Tap Tapper Works

The math is straightforward. If the average time between your taps is 500ms, the BPM is 60,000 ÷ 500 = 120. The tool averages your last 8 tap intervals, so a few early taps that are slightly off don't skew the result. You'll get a reliable reading after 4–6 taps, and within ±1–2 BPM accuracy after 8 or more.

How to tap Click the TAP button, or press the spacebar — it works anywhere on the page, no matter where your focus is.
Accuracy More taps = more accurate. After 8+ taps, results are typically within ±1–2 BPM of the actual tempo.
Reset The tap history auto-resets after 3 seconds of inactivity. Just pause naturally between songs.

Rhythm Consistency Graph

Beyond the BPM number, the tool shows a rhythm consistency graph — a line chart of each tap interval over time. The flatter the line, the steadier your sense of rhythm. A score from 0 to 100 summarizes your consistency: 90+ is "very stable," 70+ is "stable," and below 50 indicates irregular timing. It's a useful training tool: tap to a song you know well and watch the graph flatten as your timing improves.

Song BPM Search

Don't want to tap manually? The built-in song BPM database covers about 200 tracks — K-Pop (BTS, BLACKPINK, NewJeans, IVE, aespa) and global pop (Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, The Weeknd, Olivia Rodrigo, and more). Search by song title or artist name and tap the result to instantly set the metronome to that BPM.

Built-in Metronome

Once you have a BPM — whether tapped manually or searched — tap "Apply to Metronome" to transfer it instantly. The metronome plays a click sound (generated via Web Audio API) and flashes the screen on every beat, so you can feel the tempo even without headphones. You can adjust time signature from 1/4 to 8/4 and use presets (60, 80, 100, 120, 140, 160, 180) for quick setup. A classical tempo reference chart (Largo through Presto) is included for context.
